About
Life in the Fairway
Life in the Fairway is a 3-week golf and recovery group designed to support individuals overcoming alcohol and substance use. It combines structured golf instruction with recovery-focused discussions to build confidence, connection, and healthy coping skills. Led by individuals in long-term recovery, the program creates a supportive community where participants can grow both on and off the course.

Matt Riggs
My name is Matt Riggs. I am a PGA Associate/ Assistant Golf Professional at Shawnee Golf Course. I am proud to share that I am 5 years sober. Five years ago, I found myself at a low point in life, homeless and struggling with addiction at the Healing Place. I had no idea what the future held for me. However, through the game of golf, I discovered a path to recovery and a second chance in life. I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity, and I’m passionate about sharing how golf has transformed my life and supported my recovery. I hope to inspire others with my journey and show them the positive impact that golf can have both in life and recovery.

Austin Baker
My name is Austin Baker, and I am in long-term recovery. Golf has played a meaningful role in my journey, bringing me serenity, strengthening my social connections, and motivating me to focus on my physical health. What began as a childhood dream of becoming a golfer has evolved into a deep passion for the game and community around it. Today, we are using golf as a way to help others in recovery grow, build confidence, and become the best version of themselves. With almost 15 years of sobriety now, I want to help as many men and women as possible enjoy this game. Look forward to seeing you on the links
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide a three-week golf clinic designed for individuals in recovery. We aim to foster community connection and promote personal growth by teaching golf as both a sport and a pathway to wellness. By integrating golf skills with life skills, we strive to empower participants, enhance their confidence, and enrich their journey of recovery through the therapeutic benefits of the game.
Lessons in Recovery
We are excited to begin our 3-week-long golf clinic designed specifically for individuals who are navigating the challenges of alcohol and substance us.
